There are people who just want to play the game based on what it offers. Not everyone wants to cheat or slap random content made by the community just to be able to play as a character. I mean, if many people tell you to use sauce on the food you've been given, then it doesn't make the food sound appetizing, now does it? If anything, that should just be more like an afterthought, like food and slapping sauce on it.
There are plenty of games out there that can stand out on their own and doesn't have to rely on mods, even while holding a massive modding community on their backs, but the answer to a good game shouldn't just be "mods". Now, this logic doesn't apply to every single game.

Okay so, I'd like to mention that I have nothing against the community from any game that creates wonderful mods and such, if anything, i appreciate the amount of hard work they put in, but, and this applies to all games, if the devs aren't trying to fix the flaws that most people are complaining (like the whole logic crap with the captain and half of his abilities not functioning in certain locations), and if the answer to most people's problems is "mods", then it makes the devs get away with a lot of flaws, whenever it is minor or breaks the game entirely, especially if the people that do not like that flaw stop complaining about it because they don't have to deal with it anymore because of a certain mod. You mean the consistently higher quality content made for free by the community? The polished ror1 characters? Starstorm 2? Balances and fixes that aren't braindead? QOL stuff that Hopoo doesn't give a darn about? If it only one coin to become the heretic, then sure, that's a decent price, but right now, if you're going for lunar shop route, then it's about more-or-less as much as unlocking the artificer, and you only had to do that once. Also the grind isn't worth it just to be able to do a single run, just to lose it to some BS like a blazing elite that's not in your sight.
